The Influence of Electric Biking on Posture-related Headaches and Neck Pain
We've all been there – you're out for a leisurely bike ride when suddenly a sharp pain in your neck or head interrupts your enjoyment. Or maybe you suffer from more chronic headaches or neck pain, and you're looking for a new activity that might help alleviate your symptoms.
Interestingly, electric biking – also known as e-biking – has been shown to help improve posture-related headaches and neck pain. In one study, participants who used an e-bike for commuting reported fewer headaches and less neck pain than those who didn't use an e-bike.
There are a few possible explanations for why e-biking might help with posture-related headaches and neck pain. First, e-biking can help improve your posture. When you're hunched over a traditional bike, your shoulders are rounded and your head is jutting forward – which can lead to neck and head pain. But on an e-bike, you're more upright, so your spine is in a better position and your head is aligned properly.
Second, e-biking is a low-impact activity. That means there's less jarring and shaking than there is with other forms of exercise, like running. That can help reduce the risk of headaches and neck pain.
Finally, e-biking is a great way to get some fresh air and vitamin D. Both of those things have been shown to help reduce stress levels, which can trigger headaches.
If you suffer from posture-related headaches or neck pain, give electric biking a try. It just might help you find relief.
