The history of electric city coco

In 1887, Thomas Edison built the first power plant in New York City, and the first electric streetlights in the city soon followed. But it wasn't until the early 20th century that electric power began to transform the city on a larger scale.

In 1902, the first subway line in the city opened, powered by electricity. The following year, the first electric trolleys began running on city streets. And by 1913, nearly all of the city's streetcars were electric.

The widespread use of electricity in the city led to the development of a new type of architecture, known as the skyscraper. The first skyscraper in New York City was the Woolworth Building, completed in 1913.

Today, electric power is an essential part of life in the city, and the skyline is dotted with skyscrapers. But the history of electric power in the city goes back more than 130 years.
